There is a particular kind of tiredness that comes from waiting.
Waiting for an answer. Waiting for a date. Waiting for the next piece of news that might finally let you make a plan.
You carry on with the washing and the shopping, but part of your attention stays elsewhere. A phone notification makes your heart jump. Someone asks what happens next, and you wish you knew.
Without quite noticing, you begin saving things for later.
When everything is settled, you will start that project. When you know where you are going, you will make something beautiful. When the worry has lifted, you will let yourself enjoy an ordinary afternoon.
Yet there is still a cup of tea to drink today. Still a patch of sunlight moving across the kitchen floor. Still a little piece of life asking for your attention.
Something small to begin
Perhaps you cannot make the big decision yet. You can choose a colour for a drawing, plant something in a pot, or write the first few lines of an idea you have been carrying around.
A small beginning can give shape to a day that would otherwise disappear into checking and wondering.
There is comfort in working with your hands. A few stitches. A page of doodles. A favourite recipe made slowly. Something you can return to tomorrow and say, “I made a little progress here.”
It does not have to become a business, a finished masterpiece, or another task on your list. It can simply be something you enjoy doing.
Room for more than worry
Some days, happiness feels almost out of place. You laugh at something, then remember what is unresolved. You catch yourself enjoying the morning and wonder how you can feel light when so much still feels heavy.
Both feelings can belong to the same day.
You can be worried about your family and enjoy the birds outside your window. You can miss the life you had and feel curious about an idea for the future. You can be tired and still find pleasure in choosing a flower for the table.
You do not have to explain those moments or feel guilty for them.
An invitation for this week
Choose one small pleasure you have been putting off.
Use the pretty notebook. Play the music you love. Spend twenty minutes making something just because you want to. Sit outside with your tea while it is still warm.
If your energy is low, keep it simple. Looking up at the sky for a moment may be enough today.
The questions may still be there afterwards. But perhaps the afternoon will hold a little more than the questions.
Here at Sunshine Suitcases, there is room to arrive with unfinished plans and a tired heart. Pull up a chair. Let the tea brew. Tell us about the small thing that made you smile this week.
The next chapter can take its time. Today has a little space for you, too.
